Overall Review: There is one thing that I can't really call a con because I knew it was an issue before I got the machine and I don't really care. All color laser printers are pretty big, but hey, I don't have to fill the paper tray but once every few months with heavy printing. And did I mention the toner lasts forever?Ĭons: The only con I can find with this printer is the fact that for many, this printer is quite large for home use. Nice feature to print straight from a USB device. Super fast startup time from sleep, Wireless built in (that I don't use). I also NEED color for my applications, printing papers, printing labels, printing CD labels, printing fabric iron-ons, etc. SO, I decided to buy a laserjet, knowing the first toner cartridge would pay for the printer itself. Pros: I had an HP InkJet printer before, and I couldn't stand getting $60 ink anymore for a theoretical 200 Pages! It was absolutely ridiculous, considering that was for the XL cartridges, so before I ran out of ink for the 3rd time, I decided that 4 cartridges x $60 was more than I needed to spend on this $25 on sale HP printer. Some of the newer printers and the inkjets you cannot do this as easily as you can with the toner cartage. If you do not do this you will be literally throwing your money away.
The toner issue is something that you will need to Google, but you can over come this with some tape before you install the toner cartage. But this printer I have in my office and have no complaints. Brother MFC printers have a lot of great features, I like the Scan to FTP for document scanning. I use the brother for personal/specialty use and the HP's for the work horse locations (200K+ Pages a month). We have 1000+ seasonal employees here and I use a mix of Brother and HP printers. Overall Review: Brother is for the Small to Medium businesses. I have the lower model of this printer at home and a bunch of other Brother Printers throughout my place of work.Ĭons: None other then it sucks a lot of power after awaking from a sleep, but that could be because I have to much equipment plugged into the same breaker. Pros: Good Printer, haven't had any problems with it.
If you enter them wrong and have to repeat the step, the software might not recognize the printer. Overall Review: Be careful when you enter the security codes for the wireless set up. Finally I had to go to the Brother's website and down load some software to make the XP machine recognize the brother printer.
He just asked me to reinstall the drivers (of course, I've already done that a few times). A chat session with Brother's support team was not much help. I tried several times, it was not able to connect. I did have to reset the printer for the software to recognize the printer.
On my Windows 7 & Vista machines, the printer's wireless was able to be set up relatively pain free. It does not cause my lights to flicker like my old laser printer.Ĭons: I had to take one star off for issues with the wireless setup. It is also more economical to run especially if you are using the Rosewill line of cartridges. This printer prints great, much better than my 5 year old Xerox. When it was time to get a color printer, I naturally looked at another Brother. Pros: I have a BW Brother printer that I love. Great quality and good printing without explitiving the customer when it comes to the ink/toner. Overall Review: Seriously, I searched for a long time to find the perfect printer. Toner last for only 2200 prints/cartridge, so for the average user, you'll never get to buy another cartridge. EVER.Ĭons: -Not instant on, so not good for those who can't wait an extra 15 seconds when printing. I bought it here a year ago and I haven't had a single problem. Has 4 toner cartridges, which is a must on any color printers, simply because it's not economical to replace one cartridge if not all of the colors are empty
COMES WITH ALL THE TONER!!! (Not that bull**** trial toner or ink that comes with a lot of printers in an attempt to make you buy more immediately after getting the printer) Toner is like $20-25 per cartridge on Newegg Perfect colors that are usually only on ink, but without paying the cost of ink. Not instant on like some $1k HP Business printers, but never more than ~15 seconds from sleep Plays nice with wireless networks and fully driverless install on Win 7 Friendly to thick paper without giving it a bend. The DPI is great, and the economical mode when not doing photos saves toner and keeps the colors perfect, not washed out. Pros: -Symmetrical 17PPM, not 30ppm B/W and 2ppm color.
